Twins' Glen Perkins: Could open year on DL
Perkins (shoulder) threw a second bullpen session Saturday, but could still open the year on the disabled list, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
Analysis:
Manager Paul Molitor estimated that Perkins threw at 75 percent intensity Saturday, as he continues to make gradual progress in his return from shoulder surgery. He will be allowed to "help steer the ship" of his rehab plan, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Given the severity of the injury and where Perkins is at in his career, he cannot afford major setbacks, so the progression should remain gradual. The Twins' bullpen is going to be pretty fluid, and Perkins has experience on his side, but this recent surgery along with a decline in stuff and effectiveness could prevent him from seeing save opportunities this season.
