Woman claiming to be in relationship with Tebow charged with trespassing
Not all the attention following Tim Tebow around New York Mets camp has been directly related to his performance on the field.
Michelle Marie Thompson, 36, was arrested and charged with trespassing on Feb. 28 at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Laurie K. Blandford and Jon Santucci of TCPalm.com report.
The Arvada, Colo., woman was seen lingering by the field facilities two days earlier by Mets staff, and was reportedly asking questions about Tebow, who had just arrived from minor-league camp.
Approached by a police officer, Thompson said that she was in a relationship with the Mets minor-leaguer. When she provided her driver's license, the officer noticed a sticker that read "I (heart symbol) Jesus/Tim Tebow." She also explained that the Colorado address on the license was out of date since she had been living with Tebow in Jacksonville, Fla.
At first, Thompson allegedly refused to answer the question about the nature of her relationship with Tebow. Only after the officer asked her to specify whether her relationship with the former NFL quarterback was friendly, platonic, romantic, or matrimonial did she finally relent.
"All of the above," she told the officer.
Thompson was asked to leave the area, and St. Lucie County, but returned two days later, prompting her arrest. She appeared in court Friday morning, Katie Strang of ESPN reports.
