Red Sox's Tyler Thornburg: Setup role in question

Thornburg (arm) will need to prove he's healthy and pitching effectively to start the season as the eighth-inning setup man, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

Thornburg threw a bullpen session Saturday, after which he and the coaching staff had a long huddle, according to Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe. Manager John Farrell said if Thornburg is not ready to handle the setup role, Joe Kelly will pitch the eighth inning.
