Nationals' Koda Glover: Getting consideration for closer role
Manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that Glover has the stuff to close eventually, but the team is still trying to determine if he is ready for the role at the outset of the season, the Washington Post's Chelsea Janes reports.
Analysis:
Glover has made five straight appearances in the ninth inning this spring, and has a 1.13 ERA, 0.63 WHIP, 11 strikeouts and one save in eight innings over eight appearances. Shawn Kelley and Blake Treinen represent his primary competition for the ninth inning, and while Glover may have the most upside of the trio, he also stands out for having the least experience in the majors, logging just 19.2 MLB innings last season. The Nationals have not officially said this, but it sounds like they view Glover as their closer of the future, so he should be valued highly in dynasty leagues and is also worth a flyer in standard single-season leagues.
