Betts asks Fenway Park to 'literally stand up' for Jones
Mookie Betts has one request for the people coming to Fenway Park to watch the Boston Red Sox host the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.
Stand up for Adam Jones.
Betts, Boston's 24-year-old superstar outfielder, tweeted Tuesday afternoon to rally support from Red Sox nation after Jones said fans yelled racist remarks at him during Monday's contest at Fenway.
Fact: I'm Black too ✊🏽Literally stand up for @SimplyAJ10 tonight and say no to racism. We as @RedSox and @MLB fans are better than this.

A bag of peanuts was hurled at the Orioles outfielder as well. During the game, thirty-four people were apparently ejected for multiple reasons, including the person who threw the peanuts.
Betts' supportive tweet comes hours after the Red Sox publicly apologized to Jones. Boston mayor Marty Walsh got involved, asking the city to shape up.
"This is unacceptable and not who we are as a city," Walsh told Bob Nightengale of USA Today. "These words and actions have no place in Fenway, Boston, or anywhere.
"We are better than this."
