He might be the best defensive center fielder since Andruw Jones or Jim Edmonds, but Kevin Kiermaier has made a handful of costly errors against the Kansas City Royals this week.
On Thursday, Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield hit a single up the middle but came all the way around to score on Kiermaier's three-base error - his third of the series. The hit, which was almost identical to Lorenzo Cain's on Monday, was the second time Merrifield had made a trip around the bases during the game, as he hit a home run earlier off of Jake Odorizzi.
Kiermaier, winner of back-to-back Gold Gloves, committed two errors over the entirety of his 2016 season while making 264 putouts. In 2015, he committed five errors and made 412 putouts. So far this season, he's already recorded four errors.
