Angels' Mike Trout: Dealing with thumb injury

Trout sprained his left thumb Sunday against the Marlins and should be considered day-to-day.

Analysis:

X-rays on Trout's thumb came back negative, which is good news, but the results of an MRI will indicate how severe of a sprain he's dealing with. As such, the star center fielder's timetable for returning to action remains unclear until the team releases news from the test.
