The Red Sox selected Maddox's contract from Triple-A Pawtucket to the active major-league roster Thursday.

The 26-year-old right-hander has put together a sparkling 1.32 ERA and struck out 12 in 13.2 relief innings with the PawSox, though he's walked six batters in that sample.
