Barely 24 hours after helping to take down a gunman who opened fire at a baseball field in Virginia where Republican congressman were practicing, leaving five people injured, David Bailey, a Capitol police officer wounded in the attack, stood on the mound at Nationals Park and delivered once again.
Before members of Congress from both sides took the field in the nation's capital for a somber edition of the annual Congressional Baseball Game, Bailey, appearing on crutches, threw out the ceremonial first pitch in front of roughly 20,000, according to MLB.com.
Bailey, who was released from hospital after being treated for a non-gunshot wound, was then presented with the game ball by MLB executive Joe Torre.
