Freeman expected to play 3rd base upon return from injury
When Freddie Freeman returns to the Atlanta Braves' lineup, it's very likely he won't play first base.
With Matt Adams performing well (.296/.349/.635, 10 HR, 27 RBI) since being acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in a trade to replace the injured Freeman, the Braves' coaching staff appears to be looking to slot Freeman in at third base.
"My mindset is to return as a third baseman," Freeman told reporters Wednesday.

Freeman, who has played every game of his big-league career at first base, did play some third base in the low minors after getting drafted, and also played the position in high school.
He was even spotted taking grounders at third Wednesday afternoon by MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

The two-time All-Star expects to be ready to return immediately after the All-Star break. He's been on the disabled list since mid-May with a fracture in his left wrist.
