With an extreme defensive shift in play against Washington Nationals pinch hitter Adam Lind, Javier Baez was all alone on the left side of the infield.
So what.
After Lind sliced a pitch from Chicago Cubs reliever Koji Uehara, the ball veered sharply into foul territory. And yet, Baez was able to cover the ground, keep his eye on the ball and the wall, and make a spectacular catch look casual.
If you figured he was going to take it easy after stealing a hit from Bryce Harper, you figured incorrectly.
