Watch: Gardner completes Yankees' comeback with walk-off blast

Andy Marlin / USA TODAY Sports

Brett Gardner wasn't about to let the New York Yankees open the most important series of the season with a loss.

After scoring the game-tying run in the ninth inning, Gardner stepped up to the plate to open the bottom of the 11th against Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Andrew Kittredge and ensured that fans in the Bronx would go home happy by lacing a line-drive shot over the right-field wall to give the Yankees a 6-5 walk-off victory.

Gardner now has 18 home runs this season, a new career high for the 33-year-old. His blast also moved the Yankees to within a half game of first-place Boston in the American League East.

New York is now 15-0 in games when Gardner has homered this season, per Yankees PR.
