Report: Dodgers still targeting Darvish, Gray, Britton

Shanna Lockwood / USA TODAY Sports

What in the world are the Los Angeles Dodgers going to do before Monday's trade deadline?

Shortly after a report surfaced claiming the Dodgers weren't willing to give up top prospects in any trade and were instead "bargain hunting," they still have their eyes on three main targets: Yu Darvish, Sonny Gray, and Zach Britton, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

The decision to acquire any of the three hinges on asking prices, Rosenthal writes, and it's still possible they end up with none of those pitchers and settle for lesser pieces.

On Friday, the Rangers reportedly asked the Dodgers to include one of their top two prospects, Walker Buehler or Alex Verdugo, as the starting point of any package for Darvish, a four-time All-Star and owner of some of the best stuff in baseball.

The asking price for Gray has apparently been high, too.

Oakland reportedly asked the New York Yankees for one of Gleyber Torres or Clint Frazier, and the Milwaukee Brewers for Lewis Brinson in deals for Gray, who, unlike Darvish, isn't a rental player. He's under team control until 2019 and is making the remainder of a very affordable $3.575-million salary this season.

Britton, who saved 47 games and posted a 0.54 ERA for the Baltimore Orioles last season, would also be controllable past this season, with his earliest free agent period coming in 2019.

He could join Kenley Jansen and give the Dodgers two formidable arms at the back end of their bullpen.
