Giolito to make White Sox debut Monday
The Chicago White Sox intend to welcome one of their top prospects to the big leagues Monday when Lucas Giolito makes his debut for the club that acquired him from the Washington Nationals last December.
Chicago announced Giolito, the No. 6 prospect in the organization and formerly one of the top prospects in baseball, will start one of the games of a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins.
Giolito came to the South Siders as the main piece of a return for outfielder Adam Eaton.
Since arriving in the White Sox system, the 23-year-old owns a 6-10 record with a 4.62 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 24 starts for Triple-A Charlotte.
The former first-round draft choice was striking out hitters at a rate of 9.4 per nine innings in the minors this season before his call-up.
