Paul Goldschmidt had as many home runs Thursday as there were rain delays between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago Cubs.
During what felt like a constant stop-and-start between the two sides thanks to Mother Nature halting play on three occasions, Goldschmidt managed to stay hot through all of the breaks to crank his third home run of the contest in the ninth inning to put the Diamondbacks up 9-8 against Chicago.
Goldschmidt opened his long ball account in the first inning - which already started late due to rain - when he smacked a three-run home run off Jose Quintana to left-center field:

After rain delayed the start of the third frame, Goldschmidt delivered in the fifth, going deep again off Quintana for a two-run shot that escaped Wrigley Field:

Meanwhile, the Cubs taught themselves an important lesson thanks to Goldschmidt's performance.
We promise not to pitch to Paul Goldschmidt tomorrow.
