And to think Bartolo Colon was contemplating retirement last month.
The 44-year-old Minnesota Twins right-hander turned back the clock Friday to throw his first complete game since 2015 in a 8-4 win over the Texas Rangers.
Colon allowed four runs off nine hits and one walk while striking out five on 106 pitches. He became the oldest Twins pitcher to throw a nine-inning complete game in franchise history, and the oldest American League pitcher to do so since Nolan Ryan in 1992.
Colon had not even completed more than seven innings in an outing this season before Friday. It was the 37th complete game of his career.
