Rangers take out ad in Japanese newspaper to thank Darvish
The Texas Rangers are repaying Yu Darvish's parting gift.
Readers of Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun may notice some extra MLB content, as the Rangers took out an ad in the newspaper to thank their former pitcher after dealing him to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.
The text reads: "To Yu Darvish, In appreciation for your dedication to hard work, many accomplishments since 2012, thank you for your All-Star performance," according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson.
The nod by the Rangers is - literally - another page in the touching exchanges between the team and Darvish since the blockbuster trade. In the Aug. 3 edition of the Dallas Morning News, Darvish took out his own full-page ad to thank the Rangers and their fans for their support, as well as apologize for giving up 10 earned runs in his final start for Texas.
