Tigers' Kinsler: Umpire Angel Hernandez 'needs to find another job'
Ian Kinsler doesn't seem to have calmed down following his verbal bout with home plate umpire Angel Hernandez on Monday.
After being tossed in the middle of an at-bat during Monday evening's Detroit Tigers game, Kinsler vented to Jason Beck of MLB.com.
"It has to do with changing the game," the Tigers' second baseman told Beck. "(Hernandez) is changing the game. He needs to find another job. He really does.
"I'm just saying," Kinsler added, "it's pretty obvious that he needs to stop ruining baseball games."
Kinsler seemed to quickly take umbrage with the first pitch of the at-bat being called a strike, which appeared low according to the broadcast's pitch tracking. Following the second pitch - a pitch very noticeably away - Kinsler quickly turned back to see Hernandez's call and was promptly ejected.
After a heated exchange, manager Brad Ausmus came out of the dugout to argue the call and was also ejected.
Kinsler also commented to Anthony Fenech of Detroit Free Press, saying: "No one in this game wants (Hernandez) behind the plate anymore, none of the players.
"He's messing with baseball games," the 35-year-old veteran punctuated, "blatantly."
