Frazier says girl who was hit by line drive is 'doing a lot better'
Todd Frazier delivered some good news on Monday afternoon, as the New York Yankees third baseman told Brendan Kuty of NJ.com that the young girl who was hit by his line drive during a game at Yankee Stadium last week has turned a corner.
Frazier said that he's been keeping in touch with the girl's family, and her father told him via text message that "the hard stuff is behind her."
"He said she's doing a lot better," Frazier added.
Frazier also said that he hopes to visit the girl and her family at some point in the future.
Earlier this week a family member told the New York Post that while the girl was in stable condition, they were expecting "a long (recovery) process."
The young girl was sitting with her grandparents above Yankee Stadium's third-base dugout when she was struck by Frazier's foul ball. The resulting scene brought several players to tears as they watched on the field, and only increased calls for netting to be expanded at all big-league ballparks.
Since the accident, multiple teams - including the Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, and Seattle Mariners - have announced plans to extend protective netting at their stadiums for next season. Although New York City politicians have urged the Yankees to do the same, the team has yet to announce such plans.

Earlier this summer, however, the Yankees sent a letter to season-ticket holders that stated they were 'considering" extending the netting next year, according to Kuty.
