Watch: Russell's 3-run blast moves Cubs closer to Central crown
Jeff Curry / USA TODAY Sports
Addison Russell isn't about to let the St. Louis Cardinals throw a wrench into the Chicago Cubs' postseason plans.
After being shut out by Cardinals starter Michael Wacha through the first six innings of Wednesday's game, Russell took matters into his own hands in the seventh frame by launching a 383-foot three-run blast to give the Cubs a 3-1 lead.
Chicago would add two more in the inning to go up 5-1 and move just nine outs away from clinching its second consecutive NL Central title.
