It appears that Ian Kennedy will spend the next three seasons of his career with the Kansas City Royals.
The 32-year-old right-hander decided not to opt out of his current contract with the team, reports Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
Kennedy has three years and $49 million left on his deal.
In August, the pitcher told Rustin Dood of the Kansas City Star that "it would be pretty stupid" to opt out of his contract.
Kennedy was 5-13 with a 5.38 ERA and 1.33 WHIP for the Royals last season, pitching 154 innings across 30 starts. His 7.7 SO/9 was his lowest since 2008.
