Report: MLB not expected to resolve Braves investigation before GM meetings
Major League Baseball's investigation into the Atlanta Braves breaking international signing rules has yet to return any verdict, with punishment not expected to come before the forthcoming GM meetings which begin Nov. 13, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
According to the report, the Braves are expected to be penalized before the Winter Meetings, which begin Dec. 10.
The verdict was originally expected to come down following the World Series.
President of baseball operations John Hart took over general manager duties once John Coppolella resigned in early October amid the probe.
The Braves have been quietly interviewing GM candidates to fill the vacancy left by Coppolella, with Hart expected to resume his position as president of baseball operations without incurring any of MLB's penalties.
