Texas Rangers left-hander Martin Perez will be sidelined for the next four months after breaking the elbow in his non-pitching arm in a fall at his Venezuela ranch, the team's executive vice president of communications John Blake announced.
Perez underwent surgery, and the expected timeline suggests he may be ready to return near the end of April.
The fall came after Perez was startled by a move a bull made in its holding pen, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. He landed on his right elbow, fracturing the radial head in the elbow.
Perez, 26, has spent his entire six-year career with the Rangers. In 2017, he went 13-12 with a 4.82 ERA in 185 innings over 32 starts.
