Report: Yankees, Mets, Blue Jays interested in Pirates' Harrison

With the Pittsburgh Pirates toeing the line between a rebuild and one more year of possible contention, several teams have inquired about the availability of infielder Josh Harrison, according to a report from Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune.

Among the teams who have contacted the Pirates regarding Harrison are the New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, and New York Yankees. The Yankees are also rumored to be interested in acquiring Gerrit Cole.

The 30-year-old Harrison is under control for three more seasons, and is due a maximum of $32.25 million before becoming a free agent prior to the 2021 campaign. The two-time All Star played in 128 games for the Pirates last year, posting a .272/.339/.432 slash line while playing second base, third base, and even some outfield.

Early last week, a report suggested Harrison could be included with Cole to be sent to the Yankees in order to bring back a package including top prospects Clint Frazier, Miguel Andujar, and Chance Adams. However, that has yet to come to fruition.
