The Kansas City Royals traded right-hander Sam Gaviglio to the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday for cash considerations.
Gaviglio was designated for assignment by the Royals on March 18.
The 27-year-old appeared in 16 games last season (13 starts), posting a 4.36 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts across 74 1/3 innings split between the Royals and Seattle Mariners. He owns a 10.29 ERA and 2.14 WHIP in seven innings this spring.
The Blue Jays designated left-handed reliever Matt Dermody for assignment to make room for Gaviglio on the 40-man roster.
