Former All-Star outfielder Albert Belle was arrested during a spring training game at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Ariz., this past weekend, according to Matt Rodewald of FOX 10 Phoenix.

Scottsdale Police announced that the 51-year-old Belle faces charges of driving under the influence and extreme DUI, plus two counts of indecent exposure.

The events that led to Belle's arrest at the Salt River Fields complex - spring training home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies - were not made immediately clear.

This isn't Belle's first run-in with the law. During his playing career he was arrested after allegedly chasing some children who egged his house on Halloween. In 2006 he admitted to stalking an ex-girlfriend and was sentenced to 90 days in jail.

His excellence as a hitter was also marred by a number of on-field controversies, including his use of a corked bat in 1994 and multiple public spats with the media.

Belle was one of the most feared sluggers in baseball during his peak in the 1990s, spent mostly with the Cleveland Indians. The five-time All-Star hit 381 home runs during his injury-shortened 12-year career that also included two-year stints with the White Sox and Orioles, and he finished top-three in AL MVP voting for three straight seasons from 1994-96.

He was inducted into the Indians Hall of Fame in 2016.
