Osuna becomes youngest pitcher in MLB history to convert 100 saves

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Roberto Osuna entrenched himself in the record books with his 100th save on Tuesday, becoming the youngest reliever (23 years old) in league history to reach the milestone.

Longtime closer Francisco Rodriguez previously held the record, as the right-hander earned his 100th save at age 24 on Sept. 10, 2006. With the 1-2-3 close out of the Baltimore Orioles, Osuna also tied former Blue Jays closer Billy Koch for third on the team's all-time saves list.

Since his rookie season in 2015, there have been few relievers more reliable than Osuna. The young right-hander has converted the fifth-most saves in that time, behind elite closers Kenley Jansen, Mark Melancon, Craig Kimbrel, and Jeurys Familia.

In Osuna's six appearances this year, he's converted all five saves, allowing only two hits while striking out three. Barring injury, the 23-year-old is projected to finish with his third straight 30-save season.
