Blue Jays top prospect Guerrero Jr. trolls public into thinking he was called up

Toronto Blue Jays top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. got everyone stirring when he posted a picture on Instagram of him at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York late Monday afternoon.

It immediately sparked a social media frenzy, particularly on Twitter, with many assuming the 19-year-old wonder kid was getting the call to the majors. The Blue Jays, it should be noted, are traveling to Citi Field to play the New York Mets on Tuesday. JFK airport is only a 29-minute drive from the stadium.

Unfortunately, several people began to unravel an apparent epic troll job by the youngster, who reposted an older picture from December of him at JFK airport.

He has since taken down the post.

It was subsequently confirmed that Guerrero remains a Double-A player for the time being.

His team, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, had a little fun at the Internet's expense on Monday when they tweeted out their lineup card featuring a rather interesting name at the hot corner.

Prior to the brouhaha caused by Guerrero's Instagram activities, general manager Ross Atkins touched on his situation, denying the organization is holding the top prospect back from the majors.

"What I can tell you is service time is not going to be the issue," Atkins told Joel Sherman of the New York Post on Monday. "That is not what this market deserves. It is not how anyone in this organization is wired."

Guerrero has generated a ton of buzz this season with his performances in Double-A. To date, the third baseman is hitting .397/.447/.645 with five home runs and 36 RBIs in 31 minor-league games.
