In a relentless display of raw power, the Philadelphia Phillies hit four home runs, including a pair of grand slams, as part of a 20-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on Saturday night.

Somewhat amazingly, it was the Marlins who drew first blood in the game, scoring in the first inning off Phillies starter Vince Velasquez. After that though, it was all Philadelphia.

The Phillies began their onslaught on a bases-loaded four-pitch walk to Rhys Hoskins with no one out. By the end of the frame, third baseman Maikel Franco powered the team to a 5-1 lead with a grand slam.

After a scoreless second inning, Aaron Altherr followed in Franco's footsteps with a grand slam of his own, extending the Phillies' lead to 9-1.

With Franco and Altherr's theatrics, the Phillies became the first team since 1999 to hit two grand slams within the first three innings of a game - when Fernando Tatis of the St. Louis Cardinals hit two grand slams himself in the same inning.

In the fourth inning, Franco came tantalizingly close to hitting his second home run of the game, though review upheld that the sharp fly ball fell short for a double, plating two runs.

Later the same inning, Carlos Santana went deep for a three-run shot of his own. If Santana's big fly wound up scoring four runs, the Phillies would have become the second team in MLB history to hit three grand slams in a single game, joining the 2011 New York Yankees.

A subsequent double from Hoskins wound up capping an eight-run inning, making the score 17-1.

In the seventh frame, Jorge Alfaro hit a monster oppo shot off of Junichi Tazawa. The solo bomb put the finishing touches on a 20-1 victory over Miami. To their credit, the Marlins didn't seem too phased, pointing to the season they won the World Series:
