The Seattle Mariners activated catcher Mike Zunino from the 10-day disabled list ahead of their series opener against the Texas Rangers on Friday.
Zunino missed the Mariners' first 17 games of the season with a left oblique strain and rehabbed the injury in Class-A, appearing in three games (.091/.167/.182).
In a corresponding move, the team optioned fellow catcher Mike Marjama to Triple-A. Marjama hit .111/.172/.222 in 10 games in place of Zunino.
Zunino entered 2018 on a high note after an impressive second half of last season in which he hit .281/.376/.568 to go with 13 home runs in the club's final 60 games. It led to a career year for the backstop, who finished with 126 wRC+, .355 wOBA, and 3.6 WAR over all of 2017.
