Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto recognized the efforts of Toronto police officer Ken Lam.
Votto, a Toronto native, gifted constable Lam with a pair of signed, game-worn cleats for his handling and arrest of 25-year-old Alek Minassian, who killed 10 pedestrians in a busy stretch of road with his van on April 23.
Lam has been praised for his calm and composed takedown of Minassian, despite pleas from the suspect to end his life. The officer has since received psychological support from mental health staff.
