Pedroia lands back on DL with inflammation in surgically repaired knee
Dustin Pedroia returned from left knee surgery one week ago, but the Boston Red Sox were forced to place the second baseman back on the disabled list on Saturday after inflammation surfaced in his surgically repaired leg.

The move, retroactive to May 30, cleared space for the Red Sox to recall left-handed pitcher Bobby Poyner from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Pedroia's loss is a further blow to a recently beleaguered Red Sox squad. Boston also placed superstar outfielder Mookie Betts on the disabled list with an abdominal strain on Friday.
Pedroia's return from offseason knee surgery lasted three games before being sidelined. Over 13 total plate appearances, Pedroia went 1-for-11 with one run scored and one strikeout.
