Report: Orioles, D-Backs having consistent trade talks about Machado
The Arizona Diamondbacks made a huge splash before the trade deadline in 2017, acquiring J.D. Martinez from the Detroit Tigers, and it appears they're interested in doing something similar this year.
Arizona is having consistent trade conversations with the Baltimore Orioles about three-time All-Star Manny Machado, according to sources of MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
The Orioles are interested in Diamondbacks pitching prospect Jon Duplantier, according to Morosi's sources, although a potential deal involving the 2016 third-round pick could be tricky because he hasn't pitched since May 27 because of biceps tendinitis.
This isn't the first time the Diamondbacks have been linked to Machado, as they reportedly began dialogue with the Orioles about a potential deal in mid-June and have shown interest in the infielder since last offseason.

The Diamondbacks may have competition for Machado's services, however, as the Cleveland Indians are also "motivated" suitors, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
While he's also manned third base in recent seasons, Machado would likely play shortstop in Arizona with Jake Lamb firmly established at the hot corner.
Machado is considered a likely trade target as he's enjoying a career year (.311/.378/.565, 21 HRs, 59 RBIs) in the final season of his current contract, while the last-place Orioles appear ready to tear down their roster and build toward the future.
Following the 2018 campaign, the 25-year-old could be in position to acquire the offseason's most lucrative deal as a free agent.
