Big Papi is back: Ortiz signs multi-year deal with FOX Sports
Watch out baseball fans because Big Papi is back.
David Ortiz has signed a multi-year deal with FOX Sports as a studio analyst, the network announced Monday.
Ortiz, who contributed as a studio analyst throughout the 2017 postseason, will make his 2018 broadcasting debut at the All-Star Game. He'll work alongside Alex Rodriguez, Frank Thomas, and host Kevin Burkhardt during MLB on FOX.
"Big Papi brings a level of excitement and knowledge that balances nicely with Alex, Frank, and Kevin," FOX Sports President of Production and Executive Producer John Entz said. "David is incredibly likable and has unbelievable postseason experience. And we think we're set in the hitter department."
Ortiz will contribute to FOX Sports' coverage of spring training, regular season, and postseason baseball, as well as the All-Star Game and World Series.
"I had a lot of fun working for FOX Sports during the postseason last year and am pumped up to get back in the studio with Kevin, Alex, Frank, and our leader behind-the-scenes, coordinating producer Bardia Shah-Rais," Ortiz said of his new position.
The 42-year-old retired from baseball following the 2016 season after fashioning a career slash line of .286/.380/.552 with 541 home runs and 1,768 RBIs.
