After a disastrous start to the season, which ended his tenure with the New York Mets, Matt Harvey might wind up in a pennant race.

The Cincinnati Reds are involved in ongoing trade discussions with the Milwaukee Brewers regarding the 29-year-old right-hander, according to a source of MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

Before allowing eight earned runs, including four home runs, to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, Harvey had pitched well in five consecutive starts, showing flashes of the pitcher of old.

With most of his recent success coming against clubs from the NL Central, the Brewers may be willing to take a chance on the former All-Star.

The Brewers are in need of pitching with Zach Davies, Jimmy Nelson, and Brent Suter out of action with injuries.

Harvey is a free agent at season's end.
