Ronald Acuna Jr. and the Atlanta Braves appear to have avoided a major scare.
X-rays taken on the phenom's elbow came back negative after he was struck by a pitch and forced to leave Wednesday's contest versus the Miami Marlins, the team announced postgame.
The Braves announced Thursday that the results of the Acuna's CT scan came back normal and he is day to day.
After Acuna belted three consecutive leadoff homeruns to start the series, Marlins starter Jose Urena took matters into his own hands, plunking the 20-year-old with a 97-mph fastball on his first pitch of the game. The incident caused both benches to clear, with Urena ultimately being tossed from the contest. Acuna was pulled shortly after reaching first base.
The Braves wound up winning the game 5-2, their fifth consecutive victory. With a slim two-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East, Acuna's availability will be crucial down the stretch. The youngster has emerged into a superstar in his rookie season, hitting .288/.346/.576 with 19 homers and 43 RBIs in just 67 contests.
