Matt Harvey's brief time with the Cincinnati Reds could be nearing an end.

The right-hander was reportedly claimed on revocable waivers by an unknown team on Wednesday, according to Robert Murray and C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic.

Cincinnati and the mystery team now have 48 hours to work out a trade for Harvey. If a deal can't be reached, the Reds can either let him go to his new team on a waiver claim or pull Harvey back from the wire and keep him for the rest of this season.

The Reds acquired Harvey in May from the New York Mets following a controversial end to the 29-year-old's roller-coaster stint in Queens. But since arriving in the Queen City, he's managed to regain some of his old "Dark Knight" form. In 17 starts for the Reds, Harvey owns a 4.28 ERA and 1.21 WHIP to go along with 69 strikeouts.

He's also regained some of his lost velocity over the past few months, with Harvey's fastball sitting above 94 mph as a Red.

The Milwaukee Brewers were reportedly talking to the Reds about Harvey ahead of last month's non-waiver trade deadline, but the two sides couldn't come to an agreement.

Harvey will become a free agent at the end of the season.
