Mets' Wright sent to Triple-A to continue ongoing rehab

The New York Mets are moving longtime star third baseman David Wright to Triple-A Las Vegas to continue his ongoing rehab, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.

The Las Vegas 51s finish their season with a seven-game homestand, giving Wright a chance to play against players on the cusp of the big leagues while gauging the potential of his long-awaited return to the show.

Since last appearing at the MLB level in 2016, Wright has played in just 13 games - all with Class-A Advanced St. Lucie Mets - while attempting to return from multiple surgeries to his shoulder, back, and neck. In 34 plate appearances at A-ball this year, Wright has recorded a slash line of just .188/.235/.219.

The 35-year-old owns a career slash line of .296/.376/.491 in 13 seasons with the Mets, notching 1,777 total hits and 242 home runs. In addition to seven All-Star selections, Wright has also earned a pair of Silver Sluggers and a pair of Golden Gloves.
