The Toronto Blue Jays will acquire right-handed pitcher Julian Merryweather from the Cleveland Indians as the player to be named later to complete the trade for third baseman Josh Donaldson, according to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports.

Merryweather has not been officially announced as the returning piece in the deal due to the 26-year-old being on the disabled list after undergoing Tommy John surgery prior to the season. He is on the 40-man roster and would have had to clear waivers to be named in the deal at this point.

Though Merryweather wasn't included in MLB Pipeline's top 30 Indians prospects for 2018, he was ranked 12th last season.

Prior to his elbow injury, Merryweather struggled in 78 innings at Triple-A, posting a 6.58 ERA over 16 starts. His Double-A numbers in 2017 were more encouraging, going 4-2 in nine starts with a 3.38 ERA.
