It's not always easy being a fan of the away team.
As the Oakland Athletics lost to the New York Yankees in Wednesday's wild-card game at Yankee Stadium, an Athletics fan was unfortunately drenched when he had a beer thrown at him by one of the home supporters.
Throwing beer at an A’s fan after their season just ended??? This is why everyone hates the Yankees. #ScrewYouYankees pic.twitter.com/VfmfLxHDHN

The act didn't go unnoticed by the Athletics, who reached out via Twitter to discover the fan's identity. They eventually found their man, John Spencer, when he replied to the original tweet. The Athletics showed their appreciation by promising a care package to the Oakland native:
UPDATE: We found him! Now dry, the Oakland native and current NY resident is John Spencer. We’ll be sending John a care package and we’ll host him at a game next season. Thanks for representing the A’s in New York, John! #RootedInOakland #HeroTown pic.twitter.com/jBnlzqXOGX

Not a bad ending. But it should probably go without saying that you shouldn't throw beer on anyone.
