The Boston Red Sox will reportedly extend a $17.9-million qualifying offer to right-handed closer Craig Kimbrel, according to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports.
If Kimbrel rejects the offer, he'll be one of the top free agents available.
The 30-year-old fashioned a 2.74 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with 42 saves in 63 games for the World Series champions in 2018.
Over nine seasons in the majors, Kimbrel's saved 333 games and recorded 868 strikeouts in 532 2/3 innings.
