Report: Dodgers, Indians discussed trade involving Puig, Kluber
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Indians reportedly remain engaged in trade negotiations, and recently discussed a swap involving Indians starting pitcher Corey Kluber and Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
Early last week, the two clubs were mentioned in the rumor mill. While names weren't attached to the report, the Indians are said to be shopping Kluber and fellow starting pitchers Carlos Carrasco and Trevor Bauer.
The 32-year-old Kluber won the AL Cy Young Award in 2014 and '17. Over 215 innings in 2018, the right-hander posted a 2.89 ERA and 3.12 FIP, winning 20 games for the first time in his career. The three-time All-Star is owed $17 million next season, with club options worth $17.5 million and $18 million for 2020 and 2021, respectively.
Puig's been mentioned in trade rumors throughout much of his MLB career. The polarizing outfielder posted an .820 OPS with 23 home runs over 125 games in 2018, and he's eligible for free agency after next season.
