Report: Blue Jays' Stroman, Sanchez drawing trade interest

Two of the Toronto Blue Jays' most established arms in Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez are drawing interest in trade talks, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

While Rosenthal reports the Jays are open to discussing Stroman and Sanchez, who both only have two years of team control remaining, he added that Toronto is not in a hurry to deal either one.

The pair were important members of the team's postseason runs in 2015 and 2016, but the two homegrown right-handers are each coming off down years that were clouded by injuries.

Sanchez won the American League ERA title two years ago, but has battled blister and finger issues since then; over the past two seasons combined he's made just 28 starts while posting a 4.72 ERA (91 ERA+) and 1.60 WHIP. Although he underwent finger surgery in September following a freak injury involving his suitcase, the Blue Jays expect the 26-year-old to be ready for spring training.

Stroman also battled blisters in 2018, an ailment that cost him a third straight 200-inning season while limiting him to just 19 outings. When the dust settled, he authored a 5.54 ERA (76 ERA+) with just 6.8 strikeouts per nine innings. He did continue to display Gold Glove-caliber defense, however, as he was worth four defensive runs saved.

The Cincinnati Reds have already reportedly expressed interest in Stroman. It's unclear what teams might be eyeing Sanchez.
