Report: Astros interested in Keuchel reunion
The Houston Astros are in need of starting pitching, and they might opt to bring back a familiar face.
The team has interest in signing free-agent left-hander Dallas Keuchel - who's played for Houston ever since reaching the big leagues in 2012 - according to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports.
Amid reported interest from the Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, and Toronto Blue Jays, Keuchel is said to be seeking at least a five-year deal. However, most MLB teams have shied away from long-term contracts this offseason.
Keuchel is coming off a down year during which he allowed the most hits by any pitcher in the majors. He was durable, though, making 34 starts across 204 2/3 innings, while his walk percentage was its lowest since 2015 and his 53.7 ground-ball percentage led the league.
For his career, the 31-year-old owns a 76-63 record across 1,189 1/3 innings in 192 appearances. He's recorded a 3.66 ERA, a 3.72 FIP, and a 1.25 WHIP.
Including Keuchel, the Astros are currently down three starters from last season. Charlie Morton signed with the Tampa Bay Rays in December and Lance McCullers Jr. underwent Tommy John surgery in November.
