Mets' Alonso: 'Whoever says baseball isn't a contact sport is an idiot'
For the uninitiated, New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is a large man. Houston Astros outfielder Josh Reddick found this out the hard way on Monday when Alonso leveled him in a collision at first base following an errant throw.

Alonso - no worse for wear after the hit - had words for those who don't think baseball is a contact sport following the incident.

Reddick - who escaped the situation uninjured but may have been seeing stars after getting his bell wrung - found Alonso on Twitter after the fact. Alonso offered his apologies, but the two seemed to share a laugh over the collision.
They said I’m all good to go 😂😂I’m so sorry and I’m glad you’re ok

Happy to hear it! Hey man you’re just playing the game the right way! No need to apologize for that brother!
