D-Backs' Weaver leaves start with right forearm tightness

In the midst of a breakout campaign, Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Luke Weaver was removed from Sunday's game during the sixth inning after 87 pitches due to right forearm tightness.

Entering the sixth inning, Weaver had surrendered one run on five hits and two walks while striking out six against the San Francisco Giants. Medical staff came out to check on him after he gave up a leadoff single to Buster Posey. Arizona then removed its starter, summoning T.J. McFarland from the bullpen.

Weaver, 25, was one of the main pieces to come over from the St. Louis Cardinals in the Paul Goldschmidt deal, along with catcher Carson Kelly.

Since joining the Diamondbacks, Weaver has posted an impressive 3.03 ERA and 2.99 FIP over 11 starts.
