Rockies' Blackmon sets hits record during historic series vs. Padres

Charlie Blackmon dismantled the San Diego Padres this weekend, with the series finale proving to be historic in multiple ways.

On Sunday, the Colorado Rockies outfielder set the all-time record for hits in a four-game series after notching his 15th base knock of the set during the sixth inning, according to Matt Kelly of MLB.com.

Blackmon is one of three players in the modern era with at least 15 hits in a series of any length, according to ESPN Stats & Info. The three-time All-Star joined a list occupied by Tony Oliva (1967) and Irv Hall (1945).

The 32-year-old had a shot to become the first player since Milt Stock in 1925 to record four straight four-hit games but ultimately fell short with three hits in the finale.
