Larry Baer is set to return to his role as president and CEO of the San Francisco Giants on July 2, the team announced Saturday.
Baer took a leave of absence from the team in March after a video surfaced of a physical altercation between him and his wife, Pam. He was also suspended by Major League Baseball.
Giants board member Rob Dean stepped in as the acting CEO in Baer's absence. Dean will remain the "control person" for the Giants, with Farhan Zaidi - the team's president of baseball operations - continuing to report to him, according to Kerry Crowley of the Mercury News.
Baer issued a statement through the team regarding his return.
"Our hundreds of Giants employees, millions of Giants fans, and the community at large have been on my mind every day, and I am truly sorry for letting you down," Baer said. "While my time away has been difficult on many levels, it has allowed me opportunities for introspection and, with the help of some wonderful people, growth.
"I've been able to step back and take stock of myself as a person and as a leader. I am wiser for it, and the work continues. The journey of self-discovery, like so much in life, is ongoing and never-ending."
Baer has participated in a counseling program during his time away from the team.
