Stroman won't miss time after leaving start with pectoral cramp

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman left Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals in discomfort during the fifth inning after he requested a trainer to the mound.

He was later diagnosed with a left shoulder pectoral cramp, the team announced.

Stroman felt pain in his non-throwing shoulder after throwing a couple of warm-up pitches in the fifth inning, according to Sportsnet's Hazel Mae. His final pitch before exiting was clocked at 89.5 mph, below the veteran's game average of 92.4 mph, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.

But the news was much better postgame, as manager Charlie Montoyo said Stroman was only pulled because he couldn't get loose in the fifth, according to TSN's Scott Mitchell.

"He's not going to miss any time," Montoyo said, according to Davidi.

"I fully expect to be out there in five days," Stroman added.

The 28-year-old hurler entered Saturday's game with a 5-9 record and a 3.04 ERA. His solid first-half numbers have made him a popular subject of recent trade rumors.
