Even the New York Mets' minor-league affiliates can't catch a break right now.

On Thursday night, disaster unfolded for the Florida State League's St. Lucie Mets during a Fourth of July event. Following St. Lucie's win at First Data Field, the team's scheduled fireworks show went out of control and started a fire behind the stadium.

It wasn't immediately clear how the fireworks managed to spark the blaze. However, one witness who was at the game reported on Twitter that the fire started in an area that's under construction.

Incredibly, this is not the St. Lucie Mets' first brush with a fireworks-related mishap. The minor-league team previously started a five-acre fire during a postgame fireworks show in 2017.

Fortunately, it did not appear that anyone was hurt in Thursday's fire, according to Metsmerized Online's Michael Mayer.
